Man following his dream : Clencio Pinto

The sports world is a hot bed for many young players who come into this world. It is a platform where some players see their dreams coming true and many whose dreams remains unchanged.

Today I would like to write about a good friend of mine who is not only a great player but also a very good human being.  I met Clencio Pinto in my first year of Bachelor’s degree in the year 2011 where I first saw him playing for our college football team.

Born on February 1994, Clencio started his schooling from St Joseph’s High School from where he moved on Seminary of our lady Saligao where he first discovered his talent and skill in football. “While I was in the seminary I never thought that I would one day take up football as my career cause at that time being in the seminaryI was thought I be a priest someday. It was my friends who first saw the talent which made me take up football seriously and give it a try further” says Clencio.

Playing variety of positions as a Midfielder, winger and striker he started his career in football by playing Dempo sports club in u-18 category in 2011 followed by u-19 for the same club under the Guidance of Coach Mathew. Later he joined Margao Sports club in 2012 WilredLeisures from where he moved on to play for gain Dempo Sports Club. He played in nationals at Gwalior for Pune University in 2014. He was also selected to train with Boca Juniors Buenos Aries,Argentina. Currently he has signed up for Salgaonkar FC and will be playing in the I League.

Apart from playing football Clencio also loves sketching and learning new things. “My role models are  Cristiano Ronaldo and Ronaldhinho Gaucho. I have always played for the love of the game and my dad and friends are a great driving force that help me to peruse my goal further. Not forgetting my mom who is always praying for my success in the path that I have chosen” He said.

When asked what he would advise the kids who would want to play football in future, he replied, “Studies are must for all the footballers. A person who wants to take on journey of becoming a football player should practice every day, work hard on sharpening his skills to 100% and finally never forget to dream”.

He wants to make his career and dreams to play for his country one day.Clencio is such an inspiration for people who want to pursue an offbeat career. When we all are busy hunting for jobs, Clencio is busy enjoying his game!
