First visit to Gods Own Country

I visited one of the most beautiful places in India, Kerala, with my friend Sunny. Mangalore was doing me no good, and Kannur was the place we headed to for a weekend getaway.

Travelling by the 9.30 train from Mangalore Central was blissful. The breathtaking sights along the way as the train sashayed through lush green forests, rivers, beaches, villages with beautiful tiled houses and patterns made by muddy water puddles was one of the best.

The foodie within me insisted on having lunch as soon as we got off from the train at Kannur. We were lucky enough to find a cool multi cuisine restaurant in the vicinity named Cool Land. We treated ourselves to awesome Chicken Biryani and American Choupsuey (which was simply yummm. And I might think of going back just for the food).

Than we headed to Payyambalam beach and it was a very beautiful beach. This visit made me understand the difference between spending time on Goa beach and Kerala beach.

Another interesting thing we did was roaming around the streets and trying to speak to people who neither understood Hindi or English, and we were happily hearing them blabber in Malayalam.

The return journey was very tiring. But I'm glad it was a Sunday well spent. This was my first journey to Gods own Country, but definitely not the last.
